It’s one of the most popular cities in Europe and with good reason. From the fantastic food and beaches to the gorgeous scenery and cultural attractions, there’s something for everyone here. If you’re heading to the city soon, these are some of the best tourist spots you won’t want to miss while you explore Barcelona.

Basilica de la Sagrada Familia

While you explore Barcelona, Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is one of the more iconic buildings in the city. It is a UNESCO-listed site that sits in the northern area of Barcelona. Designed by Gaudi, the structure has actually been incomplete for decades and no-one knows when it will be completed. However, it still remains one of the most popular buildings to visit for its unique and surrealistic design.

The quirky buildings are a must for architecture fans, but football fans won’t want to miss out on a trip to Camp Nou while they’re in Barcelona. Home to Barcelona FC, it’s a 99,354-seat stadium that holds the title for being the largest stadium in Europe and the second-largest in the world, if you’re lucky enough to see a game there, check out the stats on If you don’t manage to catch a game here, you can still check out the museum they have on-site.

The Gothic Quarter has been the secular heart of the city for more than 2,000 years, with relics of Roman buildings and monuments that date back to the Middle Ages. It’s a masterpiece in architecture and historic highlights. This area of the city is a maze of narrow cobblestone streets and quaint squares that are always alive with the hum of visitors.

Colourful and quirky, Parc Guell is another of Antoni Gaudi’s wondrous designs and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In true Gaudi style, it’s a surrealistic park that has grottos, winding staircases, viaducts and plenty more to explore. When you visit, be sure to check out the incredible terrace that offers amazing panoramic views over the city and sea.

Explore Barcelona: La Barceloneta

Situated next to the cruise port, La Barceloneta neighbourhood borders the Sant Sebastia Beach and is a popular spot with tourists and locals alike. Lined with tapas spots and a picturesque palm-lined promenade, it’s a great area to check out and the port area also provides cable cars to the hilltop Montjuic.

Explore Barcelona: Mercat de la Boqueria

Foodies won’t be disappointed by the colourful displays of fruit, pastries and chocolates at one of the best food markets you’ll find. La Boqueria is a colourful hub of activity and is the perfect place to grab snacks and lunch on the go, or just to browse the many stalls filled to the brim with enticing produce.

Explore Barcelona: The Magic Fountain

If you’re looking for evening entertainment, the Magic Fountain of Montjuic doesn’t disappoint and is an incredibly popular attraction.
