“Thank you, Tam, for taking your readers on a memorable underwater journey that they will never forget! Everything about this book is beautiful and masterfully crafted. It will expand knowledge and spark curiosity in kids about tropical reefs and it will inspire a life-long love of nature and its many fragile treasures. “The cover of this book really is adorable. The photos were so fun! This book was fantastic. Seriously. My kids and I loved it. I’d definitely purchase a copy and check out other books by the author.” Kade Gulluscio, 5 stars
Throughout the book, the author invites children to take care of the oceans, she mentions eco-friendly proposals that are easy to carry out at home. In the first half of the book each page is organized in two ways. On one side (indistinct left or right) there are comments that highlight the importance of the ocean to sustain life, oxygen provider, ecosystem balance, climate change, the resources it provides, eating sustainable fish, using ethical products. And on the other hand, we find interesting data and fun facts about fish species. In the second half, it is dedicated to attractive and fascinating families of fish, such as pufferfish, angelfish, eels, triggerfish, parrotfish, seahorses, scorpionfish, trumpets, coronets, anemonefish.

“All Fish Faces: Photos and Fun Facts about Tropical Reef Fish is a visually and informational interesting book for all ages. I found that the photographs were high quality and worth looking through the book all by themselves. I liked that each picture is also clearly labeled and that the accompanying information boxes were well written and chosen for the audience. I learned quite a bit, as I love learning about animals of all kinds, but fish seem to be one of my weak spots. I think the formatting and color choices on each page are attention grabbing and are likely to keep the interest of even the most distracted readers.” Sharon Tyler, Sharon the Librarian Book Reviews
“Reading All Fish Faces with your kids is like taking them on an adventure to the bottom of the sea! Tam Warner Minton has created an absolutely beautiful book that kids will love to read over and over. The book is filled with breathtaking photos of all sorts of ocean-dwelling creatures. We see Angel and Pufferfish, Frogfish, and Scorpion Fish. But this is so much more than a photo album. The book is filled with lots of fun facts about the creatures they are meeting. I especially liked that the author has included the names of all the fish featured in the book. Kids will also learn about the ocean and how they help conserve it.
All Fish Faces is a great book that can ignite your kids’ imagination.” Reading with Your Kids, Blog and Podcast
“This book is perfect for lower elementary students to gain an introduction to deep-sea fish species in a way that is colorful, interactive, and informative. Seeing Tam throughout the books adds a personal element to the book and gives first-hand insight to young readers as to what it may be like to explore the deep sea. It’s books like All Fish Faces that will help educate the youngest generation and guide them in sustainable choices.” Jessica, Hill Country Homeschool Website
This is a wonderful children’s picture book, with beautiful photographs and a lot of useful educational information on different kinds of fish from all over the world. I really enjoyed reading this book with my daughter and we both learned a lot about fish. She had fun looking at the photos and some of the fish looked funny to her. Fish are interesting beings and I was amazed at the many different types of fish there are out there. It was also interesting to see all the different colours of fish and their different markings and methods of self preservation. This would be a great book for a classroom. Many thanks to the author, publisher and netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Catherine Craig, NetGalley
“In her visually arresting series about tropical reef fish, Minton pairs striking, colorful pictures with information about the characteristics, habits, and diversity of these ocean vertebrates.
In the first book in the series, Minton covers everything from differences and similarities between tropical reef fish and mammals, common fish characteristics—the way they breathe oxygen, how their scales protect them, the effect of sea warming on their bodies, their sixth sense known as Lateral Line—and also various types of reef fish including innocent looking and yet highly poisonous pufferfish, the angelfish, a cleaner fish that lives in a symbiotic relationship in coral reefs, butterflyfish, the weird looking filefish, and the master at camouflage frogfish among others.
Calling oceans vital to life on earth in the second book, Minton explains how oceans help humans by absorbing plenty of carbon dioxide and turning it into oxygen, and how coral reef plants and animals are used in medicines to treat various diseases. She explores concepts of climate warming, its effect on fish and other sea life, and how we can help keep oceans safe. Striking colorful images depict a variety of reef fish underwater, including eels, triggerfish, parrotfish, seahorses, scorpionfish, and anemonefish among others.
Minton also includes projects for ocean lovers and budding marine biologists: the reader is encouraged to find various locations across the world on the map where she took photographs of the fish in her series. A variety of fun facts about reef fish add to the intrigue. The accessible text is supplemented by stunning photographs that beautifully capture the diverse attributes of reef fish while evoking a sense of their mystery and allure.
A child-appropriate tone and playful prose combine to create an arresting and informative read. Everything fish lovers could ever hope to know about the tropical reef fish pours forth between the pages of these striking picture books.
This is an engaging and visually sophisticated addition to young readers’ libraries.” Goodreads, Booksiren
“All Fish Faces by Tam Warner Minton is an exciting book to share will all young children. As a teacher, I am going to love sharing this with my students. The kids will love seeing all kinds of fish, fish faces, and the fun facts included. The pages are colorful, vibrant, and easy to read. There is just enough text to make it enjoyable for young readers. The pictures and graphics help bring to life the facts included on every page. Overall, this book is a quick but educational read. Students will have fun engaging in these pages.” Danielle Urban, Urban Literary Magazine
“Because the author is so passionate about helping children learn about ocean life, All Fish Faces has several features that are perfect for interest led science…fun, relevant facts are included throughout alongside the most beautiful pictures of actual fish faces. It feels like you are actually underwater, looking directly at them as they look at you. The books includes a discussion of the differences between mammals and fish, and highlights the fact that fish are just as curious about us as we are about them. It’s a unique and a wonderful way to engage children in this type of learning.” Shawna, Different by Design Learning
“Perhaps nearly as exciting as the wonderful images of the fish are the photos of the author underwater in her scuba gear. This was certainly my youngest son’s favorite thing about the book. It presented an opportunity for us to discuss and learn about underwater photography, a subject that was new to my children. She wonderfully opens the book with a great compare and contrast between fish and mammals.” The Purposeful Nest Homeschooling website
“The text and photos are perfectly balanced. It’s truly a feast for your eyes. One page delves into the importance of the ecological implications and how the ocean is warming, endangering it’s population. There are helpful suggestions as to what each individual can do to change this direction. ALL FISH FACES makes the perfect gift for the ocean lover in any family. Adults and kids alike will be in awe of fish we rarely see. Order this special book for your library today.” Greg Pattridge, Always in the Middle
“While All Fish Faces is a delightful (and colorful!) children’s book, it’s also great for parents, teachers, and caregivers! In addition to the photographs, the author weaves in elementary science information and how it relates to the fish pictured. From how fish breathe to the idea of camouflage, there are real-life explanations and visuals to demonstrate the topics. … the book is a valuable classroom, homeschool, or family library resource!” Brandi at Mama Teaches
“Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review. Any kid (or adult kid) who enjoys fish will love the pictures of these fish. The layout of this book is bright and colorful. The tidbits of information on the various fish and how to help their environment are a great part of this book.” Kelly Long, NetGalley
“My sons and I both simply loved this little fish book! It is packed with beautiful photographs of some of the most interesting tropical fish. Not only are the photographs provided bright and eye catching there are plenty of fish facts included. Kids of all ages will enjoy and learn from this little book. Great addition to the science classroom or for any budding fish enthusiast. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.” Lyndie Dison (Reviewer) has just reviewed ALL FISH FACES. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
“Open this book up with your kids and dive in to learn more. This is a fun, and bright book to read with your kids. It makes a great addition to your science curriculum when you start to cover marine life.” Forgetful Momma Homeschooling Website
“There is a lot of science spread throughout the book. I especially appreciated the way the author ties a fish’s appearance to the way they live their everyday lives. The author’s passion for the subject shines throughout the book. She explains how children can help protect ocean animals, and 10% of the profits from her book go to the Marine Megafauna Foundation, an organization that tries to keep ocean giants in the ocean where they belong.” Mama Smiles Homeschool Website
All Fish Faces: Photos & Fun Facts about Tropical Reef Fish by Tam Warner Minton would be a great book to add to any sea life study or ocean unit for kids…I also want to provide my daughter with strong female role models, and I believe Tam Warner Minton to be one such role model. Erin Vincent, Homeschool Expert at Nourishing My Scholar

“All Fish Faces: Photos & Fun Facts About Tropical Reef Fish is a kid-friendly book about tropical fish. With gorgeous underwater photos and a conversational style, this picture book is the ideal way to introduce your child to ocean life. My 6-year-old daughter, Kiera, absolutely loves this book. In fact, we read through the entire book in one sitting! She especially enjoyed learning about the differences between mammals and fish in a way that she could understand.” Judy, Meaningful Homeschool
“(The book) It’s wonderful! I love the little interactive questions throughout! Great educational points for kids (and adults). I really love the Parrotfish chapter. The whole book has a very interactive feel. I think parents will really enjoy reading it to their children and children will love the colorful photos and fun facts.” Debbie Arriaga, Director on Coralia Liveaboard Indonesia, underwater photographer Our Ocean Images.
“Loads of fun! Fishes make up more than half of all vertebrates, with around 27,000 species found right around the world. ‘All Fish Faces’ is full of Tam’s great photos from the best dive sites on the planet, and beautifully illustrates the diversity – and personality – of these weird and wonderful underwater animals. This is an excellent book for children with an interest in ocean life.” Dr. Simon Pierce, Co-Founder of Marine Megafauna Foundation, Whale Shark Expert, and Editor of Nature Tripper Magazine.
The bottom line to my review is that it is a book you cannot just thumb through. It hooks you from page one. The photography is fantastic and the models are the best. The information about the fish and where they were photographed only adds to the enjoyment. It is certainly a book that one will want a hard copy of and the perfect book for the waiting room of any office. This book Is great for all ages, young and old. Time just slips by as one is drawn into the environment of underwater photography. Janice Van Cleave www.homeschool.scienceprojectideasforkids.com
“I think children will love it. A lot of good fun facts in there that are interesting. Great book to introduce your children to the fish in the sea. Would be great at Aquariums.” Suzan Meldonian – CEO – Discover the Oceans, LLC, Underwater Photographer and Author, Scuba Diving Magazine Sea Hero.
“I would recommend the New 2nd Edition of All Fish Faces for the colorful depictions of the creatures in our oceans and the insight into their world. It should be in every elementary school library! I bought the book for my grandsons, and they loved it. My 8 year old grandson has learning disabilities and the anxiety that goes along with it. It was a very big moment for all of us when he chose All Fish Faces for show and tell. He read from the book and shared his love for the ocean and it’s creatures. This wonderful book allowed my grandson his moment in the spotlight. Every home should have a copy!” Catherine K, Amazon Review
“Completely inspired by this amazing book from solo female traveler Tam Warner Minton who has taken her love for marine photography and created a passion project to give others a window in the underwater world. Tam is as intrigued with the incredible diversity of fishes in our ocean and their unique personalities as I am. This book helps to showcase just how incredible this group of animals is, making it fun an accessible for anyone to learn more about these amazing animals. Tam is also loyal supporter of the Marine Megafauna Foundation and chooses generously to donate a portion of the proceeds from this book’s sales with this organization who is helping to Save Ocean Giants from Extinction. Ultimately this is a testament to what one person can achieve when they set out to share their passion with others. The book is ideal for kids, my own little girl has a copy and loves it!” Dr Andrea Marshall is a marine biologist known for her research into manta rays, and a founder of the Marine Megafauna Foundation. She was the subject of the Natural World documentary Andrea: Queen of Mantas.
We have long loved the ocean and learning about it! One of our favorite authors, Tam Warner Minton, is back with the second edition of All Fish Faces, a book we love and highly recommend. Dr. Jessie Voigts, www.Wandering Educators.com
A great introduction to a variety of curious and colorful fish species. Fun, and particularly informative because of the many different views offered of the fish featured. Would make a fine gift for anyone looking for an ocean introduction. Paul North of Meet the Ocean Foundation, and National Geographic Underwater Specialist
“Both Mike and I enjoyed browsing this book, but the real test was to see what our nieces, Danica (11), Nadia (9) and Norah (9), thought of it!
Danica – “The pictures were bright and vibrant, very descriptive with interesting facts.“ Nadia – “It was very interesting and I liked all the pictures. I like all the fun facts.” Norah – “I like the pictures, because they showed what the animals look like. Some of the fish were weird.” All of our young readers seemed to have enjoyed learning about the fish and found the number of pictures and vibrant colours engaging. Whether this snapshot of the underwater world inspires them to become divers and future conservationists remains to be seen, but they all thank Tam for the opportunity to read her book.” Scubaverse Online Magazine, www.scubaverse.com
“I am so grateful for All Fish Faces, my grandson loves it. He has severe learning differences and is able to read your book because he can connect words with the photos. The pictures serve as clues. Kids like him usually have short term memory problems but he is able to store the information in long term memory because he had the connection with the photos. Thank you!” Cathy M.K., Grandmother
