Savannah, Georgia

Savannah River

Beautiful Savannah! It feels like going back into the past…a charming historic city, with much to do and see. My husband Randy and I also loved watching the barges on the river. The place to be in Savannah on the weekend is River Street, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Savannah is the setting for the novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil…but we only saw the good side of Savannah! Just outside the city is the Bonaventure Cemetary and Tybee Island. Savannah is a fun city for everyone in the family whether you like history, the beach, or southern charm.

Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston is another southern city chock full of charm and history. From Fort Sumter to Magnolia Plantation, the Angel Oak to the Isle of Palms, the Charleston area will keep you busy. There is something for everyone in the family, from beaches to history to southern cooking. Have you ever had a low country boil, a seafood extravaganza? If not, you really are missing something! As a matter of fact, why not take in both Savannah and Charleston on your southern road trip?

Chicago

Chicago is art in itself.

As a native midwestern girl, I LOVE Chicago.  What a great city!  Fabulous nightlife, restaurants, art, theater, parks, lake…and so on and so forth.  Chicago is a bit different from the other large, popular US cities like New York, Boston, San Francisco….because it is down to earth, and accessible.  One doesn’t feel that one cannot drive downtown, one doesn’t fear snobbery (not much, anyway), and anyone on the street will be happy to help.  Chicago is the midwestern version of “the big city”.  As a midwestern girl (as the Beach Boys would sing) I appreciate frankness with no airs. And the Chicago Museum of Art is simply a marvel. A great city to visit!

San Francisco

Famous San Francisco Cable Cars!

San Francisco is one of those cities that once you have been there, you have to go back. And back again. You can spend weeks in the city and not see it all! There’s Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf, the Embarcadero, the beach, Haight Asbury, the Tenderloin, and the beautiful and iconic Golden Gate Bridge. What’s not to love? I have two restaurants you must go to Scoma’s on Fisherman’s Wharf and Hunan Home in Chinatown. Enjoy!
