Great art! Just got back from the Picasso Museum in Barcelona. Picasso painted in blue for four years due to the loss of his best friend that committed suicide. It happened at Christmas and they were living in Paris and Picasso left to go home for the holidays but his friend stayed behind to be near a woman that he was in love with. She rejected him though and he committed suicide over her. Picasso felt responsible because he did not make his friend go home to Barcelona with him. After the four years, Picasso fell in love and then started painting in pink!
I didn’t know that is where the blue period came from. Fascinating!
