Staying Home Is The New Travelling

Bon Voyage!

Is there anything worse than waving your friends and family off at the airport knowing they’re off on an amazing adventure and you’re left behind? It might be for financial reasons or maybe you couldn’t get the time off work to join them, but whatever the reason it hasn’t left you feeling happy about the situation!

So, what are you going to do while they’re gone? You could mope around, following their trip photo-by-photo on Instagram with some seething jealousy or you could go for the much healthier option of making the most of your time and watching the days fly past until everyone’s home again.

What will you do with your time? Well, the answer is to start thinking about all the things that you’ve been putting off. This doesn’t have to be anything boring like a spring clean or sorting through drawers of clothes but how about a new haircut or a restock of your wardrobe to go with the changing of the seasons?

Dallas Blooms is a beautiful event at the Dallas Arboretum!

You might even think about turning you homestay into a “staycation” and treat yourself to re-visiting some of the places that make your town or city so great. If you’re lucky enough to have some beautiful countryside or beaches, take a trip out to them. Even if the cold weather, getting out into the fresh air and seeing how the seasons and tides change can be a cathartic experience. You’ll remember why living in your town is so great after all.

Perhaps you’ll also have a little bit more free time on your hands so you could experiment with hitting up some brand-new options. That art gallery you couldn’t drag anyone along to, is now ready and waiting for you to explore.

Go see a speaker like the redoubtable Jane Goodall!

If you’re feeling bored in the evenings why not try some brand-new cultural experiences with a trip to the theatre or revisit some pastimes you used to really enjoy and settle into a cinema seat for a great movie and a bucket of popcorn. If you’re looking for a bit of cheering up then consider Ticketoffices.com Comedy Show Tickets for an evening of laughter, drinks and good times.

You might find some more cultural offerings in your town in the way of festivals, everything from food to transport can be found at these open air events, so book in and spend a day sampling local food and learning about local history.

When it seems like everyone is away except you, it can be easy to sink into despondency and feel depressed about your lack of sun and fun. But make the time go by faster and rediscover some of your old hobbies and interests with a domestic vacation and you’ll be surprised at what goes on in your own city or town. Get involved and you might find a new pastime to take up or special interest group to join. Just don’t forget to take lots of photos to compare notes when your friends and family return from their trip.

A collaborated post.
