St Simon’s Island Hotels on the Beach include Luxurious King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort!

St Simon’s Island Hotels on the Beach include Luxurious King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort! My favorite hotel on the island!

June 2019 ~ Southern Living Says:

Want Real Southern Charm? Plan a Trip to St. Simons Island Now. It’s a coastal gem”

“You’ll find many lodging options on St. Simons, but The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, a member of the Southern Living Hotel Collection, is one of the only oceanfront hotels. Perched on East Beach, a stretch of the island’s finest waterfront, the elegant, over-80-year-old venue is also near Mallery Street, one of the area’s two main drags (the other is Redfern Village)”. https://www.southernliving.com/souths-best/beach-towns

The Fabulous King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort in St Stimon’s Island, Georgia!

St Simon’s Island Hotels on the Beach include Luxurious King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort is the epitome of southern hospitality in an island setting!

The King and Prince is a landmark hotel on St Simon’s Island, Georgia. I had the honor to be one of 14 journalists invited on a press trip to explore the hotel and the island. It boasts inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places, and is on the ocean with beachfront, oceanside pools (5 of them!), and the only oceanfront restaurant on the island, ECHO. And, if you enjoy golf, you will have many reasons to love the King and Prince! Gorgeous emerald fairways amid ancient forests and saltmarshes, and a welcoming staff and clubhouse. The award winning golf course has four signature holes among the creeks and marshes of St Simons, and it has been called the best marsh front course on the East Coast. There are also tennis courts and a seasoned tennis pro, Pride Evans, who can give private or group lessons. BONUS: I have never seen such an incredible tide! It goes in and out twice a day, 8 to 10 feet! One can walk almost a mile out at low tide.

I’m not a golfer, but I do love historic buildings, especially when they are on the ocean! The King and Prince opened its doors in the fall of 1935, and has quite a history! Big Bands played at the dance club, so popular in the 1930s! It added 110 guest rooms in 1941 and opened its doors to the public. German Uboats were sighted from the hotel during 1942 (what a sight that must have been!), and the hotel closed to all except the United States Navy. It became a radar station.

Our first evening together! Here I am with Karen Dawkins, blogger at Family Travels on a Budget (but not cheap!)

Presentation of buffets and dishes is gorgeous!

Luscious fresh peaches made this salad exquisite!

A fantastic group of people! Travel bloggers, journalists, best selling author and television show writer with staff at the hotel. I loved everyone, it was an awesome group and we really jelled.

The hotel has changed hands several times, and been added to through the years. The latest renovations have brought the King and Prince‘s firmly into the 21st century while maintaining its air of charm and authenticity. While enjoying time at the hotel, a visit to The Royal Treatment Cottage is highly recommended! Treatments include massage, aromatherapy, and reflexology!

A beautiful finish to a beautiful day!

St Simon’s Island Hotels on the Beach

My room was in the historic part of the hotel, and I had a lovely balcony right over the beach! I loved my stay, and I hope to go back. I cannot thank the King and Prince enough for an absolutely wonderful and relaxing experience at the resort. Being hosted by the resort certainly made me feel special! Be sure and stay at the beautiful King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort when visiting the fascinating island of St Simon’s!
