I found the sunsets of Antarctic summer wondrous. Seeing the sun set behind the icebergs was surreal. These photos were taken at 1130 pm, and even when the sun sank, the light remained. The sun actually rises just a couple of hours after it sets. My roommate and I slept with the drapes open because we wanted to be able to see the incredible scenery if we woke during the “night”. The entire trip seemed like a fantasy. 
OH MY GOD!!!! I was so hoping to see your pics from Antarctica. These are amazing. Oh Tam, it’s so beautiful and it makes me so scared to think what we may do to our environment going forward. I was amazed to see Women’s Marchers from Antarctica on the Internet on Saturday…now I know why. I’m sure you had the time of a lifetime. You certainly made me want to go there now!!! Thanks a million for sharing.
It truly is the trip of a lifetime. I’d love to go back. Climate change is doing some weird stuff down there on the continent, a piece of ice the size of Rhode Island is about to break off because of global warming. I learned so much from the experts on the Lindblad National Geographic Explorer, there was even a Climate Scientist from Stanford on board. Opening up coal mines and more oil is going to really hurt our planet.
Oh Tam these are so beautiful. Its hard to believe sometimes the splendor of our world. Seeing icebergs up front and personal is at the top of my bucket list.
It is amazing. The Arctic is melting faster than Antarctica, but I suggest you get down there to see it. There is nothing cuter than penguins.
I read your post out loud to my husband (while bragging about you and how kind you always are to me) and we were amazed, together, while looking at your photos.
I know I’ll never get to Antarctica so I loved living – we loved living – vicariously through you. Wow!

I’m glad you can enjoy it through me! It is an incredible, mind boggling destination. You can get internet via satellite, unless you are behind high mountains. It doesn’t work that well! And never say never, Cathy.
I almost went to Antarctica and now I think I should have. And will, perhaps, in the next few years.
