For non-Texans, the diversity of Texas scenery may come as a surprise. From prairie to mountains to coast to piney woods to desert, Texas landscape changes are frequent. Right now Randy and I are in the heart of Texas, the Hill Country. The Hill Country encompasses Austin and San Antonio, Kerrville and Fredericksburg, San Marcos and New Braunfels. We have been driving the region this last week, enjoying the deer herds, the hills, the buttes, the college campuses, and the quaint village of Gruene.
Visit the Hill Country, y’all!

Love the wildflowers! Love the baby deer! Thank you for sharing. The only part of Texas I have seen is Dallas :0

Dallas is where I live, but the Hill Country is much, much prettier.

Wow! You think dry, hot and oil pumps. Thanks for showing there is a soft and beautiful side. Beautiful pictures.

I think they may have that in West Texas….like Lubbock! If I get out that way I’ll check it out! The Hill Country is quite lovely!

Yes, people do have a picture of Texas as dusty fields, JR Ewing, cowboy hats, and oil wells, don’t they? Ah, you have to thank Lady Bird for the wildflowers!

Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing. I moved to Austin a year ago and do the San Antonio drive often, so will have to go to see Gruene. Kerrville is on my list – did Fredericksburg, but want to get more remote in Hill Country. Peace.

You will love Gruene! Enjoy!
