Our Last Day In Raja Ampat was the Most Colorful Yet!

A huge, giant clam…it looks like the starry sky inside!

Any diver will tell you that the last few dives of a dive trip tend to be among the best of the entire journey! Our last day was the most colorful. I’m not sure why that is, perhaps the ocean and its creatures want to make sure we will come back to see them. Whatever the reason, here is a photoblog of day 10 in Raja Ampat, on the luxurious Arenui Boutique Liveaboard, with Andrea Marshall and Ray of Hope Expeditions! Enjoy the colors of the sea!

Giant Clams are a work of art, they are beautiful, fascinating, and mesmerizing!
And yes, they are huge! I am 5’7″ if that gives you some perspective!
Another colorful Giant Clam!
These “Big Eyes” are beautiful, aren’t they?
A beautiful spadefish.
I confess to an absolute love of Spadefish, but especially the juvenile Golden Spades. Aren’t they amazing?
I relished the opportunities to see shoals of juvenile Golden Spadefish, if you look closely you can see cleaner fish among them.
I know, I know, but I do love them. And they come right up to you! So curious!
Lobsters are everywhere, and everywhere they are different colors and different species!
Moray eels are all so alike, and yet so different. Every ocean has their own variations!
Beautiful Feather Stars. Remember, each “feather” is a separate animal!
This red Feather Star sits among fluid, moving tunicates.
A very large Hawksbill Turtle, sleeping peacefully under a ledge.
Who doesn’t love the tiny Nudibranchs?
It is always a thrill to find a pipefish, relative of the sea horse. This is a Banded Pipefish.
Lionfish are always gorgeous.
Here is a chance to see something completely insane! This is a Decorator Crab, check out the claws bottom right. Decorators dress up to blend in, and this one is pretending to be an anemone! Decorators are hard to spot, but this one was moving, so I caught it in my lens!
Here’s another view. And they are small, 2 or 3 inches.
The Royal Regal Angelfish
Very cool reef scene.
Blue Spotted Stingrays are so pretty.
My friends were always beside me!
Can you see the Wobbegone shark? The fish were so thick I couldn’t get a clear shot!
Always surrounded by fish!
