My New Kid’s Book Series has Arrived with Book Two of Ocean Friends, More Fish Faces! I have to admit that I am very excited about it!
You all know how passionate I am about the ocean and about animals, especially ocean animals. I have traveled to all seven continents and had incredible experiences. Going on citizen science expeditions have been some of the most fulfilling trips of my life. I’ve been cage diving with Great White Sharks, seen Dwarf Minke Whales, Whale Sharks, Manta Rays, Gray Whales, Humpback Whales, Killer Whales, and taken photographs for scientific identification of many other species. I have loved every moment of it, and I share what I have learned in my new book series, Ocean Friends!
Through my travels, I have become acutely aware of the dangers of climate change and plastic pollution. I’ve made it my mission to educate others on the importance of protecting our oceans and the creatures that live in them. It is the main reason I published my books, All Fish Faces, and More Fish Faces. I noticed while many people are interested in conservation, few go out of their way to find out more about it. Anyone with a passion and interest in protecting our Earth can make a difference. You don’t need a Ph.D. in marine biology to encourage others to save the ocean. My experiences are a testament to the effects of crowd-sourced science, and how anyone can do far more than they ever dreamed possible, and that includes kids! Ocean Friends will teach kids that they, too, can contribute.
Reaching the next generation (and their parents/grandparents) is something I see as imperative. Our generation has not done a good job protecting our earth and ecosystems. We need the ocean to survive so we can survive. I hope that the colorful photos, fun facts, and practical information and tips on how to save our oceans will inspire a new generation of ocean lovers, scientists, scuba divers, and conservationists.
I’ve also published a coloring book of my photographs in the books called All Fish Faces Coloring Book. I basically took the color out of my photos so kids can color them in whatever colors they want. They can follow my book, or invent their own designs for the fish. I have also put together activity sheets that are free to download on www.tamwarnerminton.com/book-media/ along with book fact sheets, author fact sheets, and sample pages. In addition, you can get free book excerpts on www.tamwarnerminton.com! You can order All Fish Faces and More Fish Faces on Amazon, Ingram, and other online retailers, but you can also get them directly from me at a 20% discount by emailing [email protected]. If you order directly from me, I’ll include cool bookmarks and signed copies are available.
I’ve been thrilled with all the buzz and the great reviews I’ve received. I’ve been interviewed by We Are Austin on CBS Austin with hosts Taylor Ellison and Trevor Scott, The Donna Seebo Show, and others you can find on my website. The book reviews have also been excellent, from scientists at Marine Megafauna Foundation, Voyage Dallas Magazine, Scubaverse, and so many education and homeschooling sites! Please be sure to take a look if you are interested. I’m on Goodreads and Amazon. 10% goes to ocean conservation.
Stay tuned because I have a lot coming up, including travel (as soon as we can travel again!) and more book ideas. I hope you are staying safe in these uncertain times. Also, I encourage you to vote on the issue of climate, I’ve seen the damage, and we are almost at a point of no return. We need to make decisions for our future, and for our children’s and grandchildren’s futures.
