With its breathtaking marine life and crystal-clear waters, Loreto offers an idyllic destination for divers to explore during the summer months. The water wasn’t terribly cold, I made do in a 3-mil wetsuit over my 1/2 mil. There were thermoclines, but in the summer months, the water really warms up. So, let us dive into the wonders of Loreto’s underwater world, and I will share my insights and tips to make your summer diving experience in Loreto Baja California Sur an extraordinary one.

Swim among a myriad of fascinating creatures, including moray eels, seahorses, and rays. Learn about the importance of preserving these fragile ecosystems and practicing responsible diving.
The Legendary Sea of Cortez
Loreto’s strategic location along the Sea of Cortez, often referred to as the “Aquarium of the World,” offers a unique and awe-inspiring diving experience. During the summer months, you can encounter playful sea lions, the occasional graceful whale shark, and pods of dolphins, creating memories that will last a lifetime. There is a plethora of amazing marine life, from eels to fish to urchins to nudibranchs to seastars!
Legendary Dive Sites
Loreto Baja California Sur is surrounded by a collection of captivating islands, each offering unique dive experiences. We even saw super cool cave systems! Dive enthusiasts will find a variety of dive sites around the islands that cater to different levels of expertise. Del Carmen Island, Coronado Island, and Danzante Island are among the notable destinations, featuring stunning rock formations, underwater caves, and an abundance of marine life. The islands and ocean surrounding them are simply breathtaking. Without a drone it is difficult to see how the islands differ, but the islands are just offshore which makes this body of water calm enough to dive in.
