An Unbelievable View of the lake and mountains from 9,000 ft above sea level! Higher than the clouds!
I did a snowmobile tour with Zephyr Cove’s Winter Activities! The views were breathtaking, but driving the machine was a challenge.Taking a break to see the views. The beauty of the 45 miles of trails was surreal.I wanted to take a ride to Emerald Bay, the most photographed part of Lake Tahoe. I chose Lake Tahoe Cruises at Zephyr Cove.Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe during the summer.Entering Emerald Bay while snowing. The clouds were sitting below the mountain peaks. In the bay.Fannette Island is the only island on Lake Tahoe. The Hermit of Emerald Bay, Captain Dick Barter from England, is said to haunt the bay. Stories of “Thems my toes” Barter are plentiful! After falling in the lake and freezing, he realized his toes were gangrene. He cut them off himself, and somehow lived to tell the story….and to show the toes he hacked off to his guests!Emerald Bay is simply beautiful. When the sun came out the water was dazzling! The “Tea House” on Fannette Island was built by the owner of Vikingsholm, Mrs Lora Josephine Knight, who donated the estate to Emerald Bay State Park on the California side of the lake.Being on the lake was COLD.Chilly!Captain Dick Barter spent quite a lot of time building his burial site and chapel, but sadly, he drowned off Rubicon Point and his body was never recovered.Beautiful Vikingsholm, built by Lora Josephine Knight in 1929. She had 15 servants on the property!Vikingsholm.
Sunny Zephyr Cove! They offer so many different opportunities to see the ins and outs of Lake Tahoe. The bluest blue.
Lake Tahoe really is a gem of a place. I was there about a year and a half ago–it’s only 4 hours by car if it’s not prime time but on weekends? 8 hours or MORE!
I love Lake Tahoe and have spent many family vacations there. The beauty is over whelming and you captured it beautifully! Mary recently posted…Look Who’s Calling! Walmart Family Mobile PLUS
You slayed me with that video and those pictures! Oh my. Now that’s a place I have to go see. WOW. Looks like you had a wonderful time! Carolann recently posted…Spaghetti Pie With Spinach Onions And Cheese
Absolutely beautiful. We’re self-described homebodies, but Tahoe is somewhere my London-born husband has wanted to see since coming to the States. After seeing your photos, our “someday” vacation may have moved up a few slots on the bucket list. OneDizzyBee recently posted…Carrot and Zucchini Fricos
