Roca Partida is the most happening place in the islands. Roca Partida is a rock covered with birds and their guana, sticking up in the middle of the ocean. Beneath the sea are mantas, sharks, sharks and mantas. Oh, and dolphins. And fish. It is amazing. Since it is Friday, this will be a photo blog, mostly. Enjoy Roca Partida! The action was so incredible we stayed for 3 days!

Sorry about the lousy quality of some of my photos…very difficult to get good shots in the blue. I’m hoping some of the other divers got better photos of the hammerheads and dolphins than I did. Thanks to Bob Kaltreider and Marie-Elizabeth Mali for sharing.
Ok. You have inspired me to go to Antigua next year. I won’t dive. But I need some of that island action, thanks to you!
Good! At least snorkel!
You are my underwater hero! I was petrified to put my granddaughters gold fish back in the tank when he jumped out and you swim with BIG sharks, built like tanks. Have you thought of writing a children’s picture book? My 5 & 6 year old granddaughters love your photos.
I think children are so fascinated by these large, beautiful animals! What kind of book? Explaining what they are, if they are endangered, and how to help?
You photos and courage amaze and intrigue me. I love the images, but I could not do this. I would be so stressed I’d have a stoke. I need a submersible… with big windows.
You’re funny, Nancy!
I would freak out doing this so thank you for giving me the opportunity to see this amazing world vicariously through your amazing photos! I’m with Nancy – give me a submersible with big windows!
Lois Alter Mark recently posted…8 travel gadgets to take anywhere!
ha! No fun! You can’t interact with them in a submersible (usually).
I so wish I could be there. This type of dive trip is now on my bucket list. I really want to swim with the “big dogs”. What an amazing experience you are having. Thanks as always for sharing your adventure with us, and the photo’s. Have fun !!
Swimming with the big dogs is exhilarating, I can tell you! These islands are really special.
Dear Explorers,
Please do your best to follow guidelines when exploring roca partida or gallapagos islands, don’t do things that will harm living animals there. There routine should not be disturbed, coz it will hugely affect their propagation and breeding processes. Those are wonderful places and very much important to animals that are passing by, chilling, on leave, and having a grand family reunion.
I am nobody, just giving importance to nature.
