The whale watching in Cabo during March was incredible! Humpback Whales are Ginormous, as Buddy the Elf would say. They are such fun whales to watch because they are so active, so curious, and always lively. Few things on the ocean are more exciting than a Humpback breach! While staying in Cabo San Lucas I went out with Whale Watch Cabo, and our guide, Lisa Hofmann, was awesome! There’s really no way to tell the story of the gorgeous Humpback Whales other than to do so in photos.
All photos were taken by Lisa Hofmann.

Isla Espiritu Santo is the most beautiful island in the Sea of Cortez, or the Gulf of California, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site! It is a treasure located two hours by boat from La Paz, aka “the Pearl”. (There used to be a lively pearl fishery here, but it is now all fished out. Just another reminder of why we need to practice sustainability!) La Paz has a statue along the Malecon, aka Boardwalk in English, that has a pearl in a shell. Enjoy the Fantastic Gray Whale Migration in Magdalena Bay While Eco Camping
The fantastic Gray Whale Migration to Magdalena Bay in the Baja is a true natural wonder. It happens yearly, the Gray Whales come from the Bering Strait and Alaska to the warmer waters of the Baja in order to mate and raise their calves. These amazing mammals come to warmer waters to mate, and the gestation period for these whales is 12 months, so when they return the next year, some mamas are giving birth while others are mating. The peak of this gray whale migration is January to March of each year. Red Travel Mexico and I co-sponsored another trip together this year, our last one was also to the Baja, and it was a fabulous experience!
