Shamrockin' for a Cure, Georgia Style!
So good to me! And what truth it is!
Monday finds me exhausted, but happy. We gave an incredible, wonderful engagement dinner for my daughter and future son-in-law on Saturday evening, and for the first time I had a party planner do it, so I actually had a lovely time at my own party. What can beat an evening with good news, family and friends? Not much.
The other good news is Randy, my spouse who had to have a double lung transplant a year and a half ago. He is recovering beautifully from his CMV virus scare. He has one more infusion this Friday, then we are hoping to be off to Atlanta for a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser called Shamrockin’ for a Cure. A couple we are close to chair the event, and we’ve been trying to get there for 3 years. Maybe 3 times is a charm, and we will be there this time. The committee running the event have been wonderfully supportive of Randy and I, and we truly appreciate it. Cystic Fibrosis and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis are similar….and both diseases are treated with lung transplants. A cure for one may be a cure for the other. If you are near Atlanta, please join us! You can buy tickets for the event at http://shamrockinforacure.com/tickets/!!!
After Atlanta, we are planning to swing by Savannah on our way to meet our Kentucky family for a vacation in Charleston, SC. I want to dive once I get down there. There are incredible fossil beds in the rivers, especially the Cooper River, with huge, fossilized shark teeth. Sounds like a dive I want to do! I have never been diving in a river before. I will be sure to review it for you, and give you every detail! Send us a few positive thoughts and prayers that Randy will be recovered enough to go on the trip!
Have a wonderful Monday!
