Bali’s Volcanoes and Hot Springs are Worth Visiting!

Bali’s Volcanoes and Hot Springs are Worth a Visit!

My first day touring Bali was spent on cultural activities like dance. On my second tour day with Bali Bliss Tour, we went to the Batur Volcano and its famous healing Hot Springs. There are three volcanos, Batur, Mount Agung, and Bratan. I chose Batur because I wanted to soak in the hot mineral water. And it was wonderful!

The volcano and hot springs were a two hour drive from the Maya Sanur where I was staying. I enjoyed the scenery and the chance to see more of the island. It was also a bit of a relief from the sweltering humid temperatures of Bali…the volcanos are high enough that it is almost cool. The Balinese were wearing coats while the rest of us were in bathing suits or shorts.

A warm welcome at the Hot Springs.

The hot springs were located on the small lake beneath the volcano. The volcano was covered in clouds.

Always placating the spirits of good and evil!

Always the black and white are present, even in the decor.
The Batur Caldera. The last eruption was 1972, I believe.

I loved soaking in the hot water, and the massages from the fountains in the pool.

A lighter massage from the elephants.

The big massage fountain delivered a deep massage!

The scenery on the way back was of rice fields and crops grown above ground on bamboo stilts.

I was fascinated to see the many different ways they grow crops there.

Famous rice terraces…they weren’t in season, but still lovely to see.

Rice.

One week in Bali was not nearly enough to really see the island. I did not have much relaxation planned, so the trip felt a bit rushed, and went by all too fast! Now that I have more knowledge of the island, I would plan a few days at the hot springs in order to really relax and enjoy.
